@Tammy, thanks for accepting tips from this blog In fact, for bloggers like me, it is a lot easier to write about stuff (mainly technical) than content like yours that has a lot more personal touch and comes right out of heart…

@Chetan, yes accessibility matters a lot… Very often we hit web pages where there are a lot of content but nothing is easily browsable

@Mitch, thank you very much for your visit… You got a point or two about other things that we as readers can’t stand in a blog… stripe ads can be an irritating thing for sure (sometimes the main content loads a few secs after strip ads). And definitely posts accepting no comments is purely monologue and such bloggers are not writing for anybody in particular.

@Akhil, thanks for your visit. Yes, I saw that you have changed the theme and shuffled the ad spots. Now you need to build a community and be regular in visiting/commenting at least 10-15 blogs dealing with similar topics as yours. Backlinks building is very important, So is the frequency of posting.

@Ramesh, repeated content is definitely a let down and mostly when you land blogs that have copy-paste content or stale stuff, you tend to leave ASAP

@Tammy, you are absolutely right on this ‘subscribe to comment thing’. There are a number of bugs or misbehavior related to it – sometimes even if we set it up properly, there is no way to opt out… Even I have been facing this problem with my own comments in my blog. But when I tested it with other email IDs it was looking fine, please do let me know if you faced any issue here.

BTW, I see that you have a great blog with a lot of reader engagement… Great work

I have one other complaint:

Currently I have subscribed to a “comment” feed. It was very interesting post at the time, but now…it is getting a little old and I cannot get out of it. I go back into the site and try to find a way to remove myself from a “comment notification” the option does not exist. I have emailed the blogger(nicely) and of course, no reply. I think if someone is going to put this on their blog they need to make sure there is a easy way for a reader to opt out.

This is my first time over. I like what I have read.

I would like to add one more to the list: Repeating a content that was already posted several times by others . Repeating a content by adding a unique perspective is good. But repeating it because everybody is talking about it, is boring.

for e.g. during the first week of Google Chrome’s release, almost everybody was talking about it. But only very few had interesting, unique perspective and strong opinion about it.

If you only have 4-5 IE6 visitors a day, you really shouldn’t worry that much about the h2′s in the sidebar. They really need to upgrade their browser.

As for the repeating cliches (internal to the blog as well as within blogosphere), yes that can be a major let down for visitors.

@Hussein, even my theme has a problem with sidebar H2 styles with IE6. I am unable to fix the dang thing…fortunately I get only 4-5 IE6 visitors these days…

As for the mybloglog widgets, definitely it is slower. I thought it slows down further when you show more profiles (perhaps each goes as a webservice call to their backend from the widget code?). As you have rightly done, it should figure somewhere in the footer only. Also, try to reduce the number of profile shown below 20 (I guess you have 40 or so?). This will also get rid of the busy browser (browsing on…) icon on the titlebar or tab which is another annoyance though the page may seem to have loaded already to the user.

I don’t think I do any of the things on this list although sometimes my site takes some time to completetly load. I’m starting to think it’s mybloglog that is slowing everything down.

I agree with you about flashy or too many ads – it’s distracting and makes me want to leave this site.

Ooops, I believe I am guilty of #2 there — you were nice to me over at my blog, considering that! I’ll have to give it some thought. I thought that it was a cool technique when I saw it on other blogs….

The things that bother me in my circles are cliches. That said, I’ve been guilty, there, as well — though in my instances I didn’t know what I said was a cliche. I thought I was being profound… but there are some people who really seem to be simply repeating cliches. That turns me off, unfortunately.
