Free blogging services such as Blogger (blogspot.com blog), Wordpress.com and Typepad are always good for beginners to kickstart their blogging lives. Many wannabe bloggers do not want to complicate things initially and that is why they go for these free platforms, which in a way, makes sense.

Recently, in an attempt to revive, my cricket blog I did a small comparative study of two of the leading free blog platforms - blogger and wordpress.com - and this post is the summary of my findings. Hope this helps many beginners to make a decision on which of these free platforms to choose to get started. As I mentioned in a recent post, it’s only a few weeks since I started getting hooked on to Twitter and already I figured out that it is not the same Social Networking Application any more as mentioned in their mission statement:

WordPress is an amazing blog platform! Hardly 9 months after I started using it, I must say that I am in love with it and even started exploring with its core codebase as well as experimenting with my own little plugins. The amount of extensibility built into this blogging platform - or Content Management System (CMS) - is just incredible.

Though I am using a number of plugins and keep on experimenting with more, I am not fully aware of all the newer plugins that are coming in.
