Guess Blogging Opportunity is Here!

It’s more than 8 years since I launched and what an incredible journey it has been! Originally started with the intent of coaching budding bloggers in the areas of online money making, Search Engine optimization, blogging and blog hosting advice, I must say that the brand and the content here in managed to meet most of my expectations. And needless to say, during the course, I too learned a lot on how to make money using various advertising and Internet marketing strategies.

Google’s Mobile-Friendly Algorithm May Impact Your Blog Traffic: Act NOW!

The deadline is fast approaching! Yes, Google will be rolling out its ‘Mobile-Friendly’ Algorithm update on April 21st whereby the websites and blogs that are not rendered well on mobile browsers are likely to be impacted big time. In other words, being ‘Mobile-friendly’ is getting significant weightage in the Google search ranking algorithm which is based on several dozens of parameters including this one.

Well, Google had announced the intent long time back and some of you must have even seen an error message in your Webmaster Tools page regarding the same. Of course, many of us already had a Mobile plugin or were using a responsive theme which took care of the mobile-friendly rendering or readability. But, is that enough to guarantee mobile-friendliness in Google’s eyes?

Some Updates on Internet Marketing, Blogging and Money

Well, it is exactly SIX MONTHS since I quit my regular job and I have been into full-time affiliate marketing since then along with occasional consulting on inbound marketing – SEO topics. Life has been peaceful ever since I bid good bye to the Software world in Bangalore – particularly happy about staying away from awful traffic situation and office politics.

So what exactly I have been doing these days? Here is the bullet summary (now that I don’t spend a lot of time blogging long and boring posts)

1. Affiliate Marketing

This being my main income stream, my main efforts go here these days. When I say, ‘effort’, it’s not more than two-three hours a day at the moment. The following are the main routes that I have taken lately:

DigitalOcean SSD Cloud VPS Review and Setup Tips for WordPress

One of the key requirements to be successful at Affiliate Marketing is fast loading landing pages! Unfortunately, high-end VPS services are very expensive. Moreover, if you want to have dedicated IPs for each and every key domain that you hold, you have to shell out a lot of money. This is where Digital Ocean comes to your rescue where cloud based VPS solutions start at JUST $5 A MONTH!

I have been toying with Digital Ocean since the last one month. Initially, I was very apprehensive of going with something that’s not managed, doesn’t have a cPanel and rather developer oriented way of managing things (initially). Soon I realized that, it’s so damn easy to get started with Digital Ocean and setup a WordPress blog in hardly 2 minutes if you go with Ubuntu and may be just 15 minutes if you opt for other preferred O/S such as CentOS. This post is a short review on Digital Ocean based on my initial experiences of setting up a domain with them.

8 Questions to Ask before Quitting Regular Job to Work From Home

I quit my full time job last week! I have been working in the Software Industry all these years – 19 years to be precise – which is considered to be a high salary career in our context. As some of you already know, for the past few years, I have been experimenting with Internet marketing as well and it was getting really difficult to handle both these vastly varying careers together. Finally, I decided to quit my full time job in favor of the Work From Home option seeing the opportunity of making a good living out of it while working for lesser number of hours.

For those who kick-start blogging as fresh college pass-outs (or dropouts) – for that matter even for those who just started their career – it may not be a big issue to decide on a Work From Home career. But for someone who has to retire after all those long years into a full-time job, it is something BIG. Apart from planning for retirement (read my recent post on retirement planning) one needs to ask himself/herself a few questions before making such a big switch to freelancing or WFH opportunities.

Guest Bloggers awaiting the Next Google Thunderbolt?

The latest and the most ‘unkindest cut of all’ from Matt Cutts of Google has just been delivered to the blogging and SEO community in the form of a soft warning. So if you as a blogger is someone who has either accepted guest posters on your blog or posted articles elsewhere to claim backlinks then you have a reason to worry. Why? Because most of the premonitions from Cutts usually get implemented in the form of a pagerank algorithm update to follow.
