Most of traffic to website comes from Google. But if you get some visitors from bing also than y not . I was having no idea of robot.txt can stop bing. nice post thnx.

Interesting tips. I never knew that a trailing ‘/’ is considered as two separate entities. I’ve got most of the tips covered though traffic from Bing is still small. Most of my visitors are still hooked on Google

informative tips on bing. im having particular trouble with getting my site coming up in search results for bing. its fine for yahoo and google. i submitted it about a month or so to bing. Have you any idea how long it takes for their bot to visit new sites?

Great post!

I am getting bing traffic but i don’t think it will be 6% of total search engine traffic.

Let me read this again and do the optimizations if needed.

@Anish, good to know that bing is pouring some visitors for you.@Atlanta SEO, domain age is a good parameter for both Yahoo and bing. As for the merger of technologies, I am not sure when MS and Yahoo will come together.@UK SEO, authority & domain age - Yes. But there are a lot of on page factors also (like canonical factors) as per their blog.@Arun, yes, the plugin takes care of informing the bots, but on page and off site SEO aspects need to be considered as well.

The Google XML Sitemap plugin team updated the plugin right when Bing came out, i think it handled the basic SEO issues and i started getting traffic right away

I think Bing is having different approach for listing sites. The results are based on some research and authority rather than relying heavily on on-page and backlinks factors.

@Ishan, Yes… valid (X)HTML code makes life easier for bots to scan the content. Also, javascript that many plugins/scripts blindly use can be a bot-stopper at times.

@Harsh, thanks for pointing out the meta description tag. Definitely, most search engines trust the meta description tag along with the title and that’s where plugins like All-in-one-SEO is very handy

@John, Yes… that’s what Microsoft suggest as well. Instead of ‘make money online’ one may optimize for ‘how can i make money from my blog’ or similar stuff.

The best way is to use commonly used keywords for the site. It will surely generate good amount of traffic.
