Charity begins at home - 10 click-to-donate sites!

WFPLast Wednesday (15th Oct) was observed as the BlogActionDay by BlogActionDay.org. If you wonder what that means, it is the day of the year where 1000s of bloggers around the world come together and discuss a single issue and try to solve the same. This year’s theme was poverty and a number of bloggers wrote about it, called for action and even donated part of their online income in an effort to eradicate poverty from this world!

I somehow missed this particular day as I did not get the alert mail on time. However, I decided that I am not going to miss it next time as I have, now, subscribed to the newsletter from BlogActionDay.org (You may do the same). In addition, I thought of initiating the following charity drive via this blog which I hope some of you will follow as well.

Open Mic - Talk about you, your family, hobbies, halloween shopping,…

Namaste‘ is one of the most powerful words from the Indian sub-continent!Namaste It is used to greet each other with deep respect and the literal meaning of the word is ‘I bow to you‘. Usually the spoken salutation (and the gesture with both hands as in the picture) is accompanied by a bow of the head and/or body. In Hindu, Buddhist or Jain culture, this gesture is also used while praying god, meditating or doing Yoga.

So, what has ‘Namaste‘ to do here! It has been six months since this blog was launched and several thousands guests visited us in this time frame. However, only a few hundreds of them voiced their opinions here. (Some of them are regulars from Day 1 and we do know them well too). To know majority of the others better, we thought, it is a good idea to dedicate this weekend to greet and know each other thereby improving the interaction levels here. Google bashing and Screw Google mentality!

There is an old story in the blogosphere of John Chow’s battle against Google. Having made majority of his fortunes out of blogging, John Chow decided to take on Google! The story was serialized on blogosphere over several episodes. The end result was that his blog went down from 5 to 4 to 3 in terms of page ranking! As a consequence if you search for something related to John Chow on Google, the SERPs will present his clones and clowns!

Earlier this week Shoemoney clarified on his controversial statement in one of the recent speeches. Though he tried to pacify both Google and his readers in the post the undertone was ‘Err, I don’t want the same fate as John Chow’! I would like to ask these two gentlemen how they reached where they are today and who gave them the push? Click Here to Continue Reading

Blog Contests - Are they for you?

Looks like, this is an era of blog contests! I get to see a brand new contest every other day or so while going through my subscribed blogs (Incidentally, the number of blogs in my Google Reader has been growing at such an unmanageable rate that I had to somehow forcibly bring it down to 40-50 blogs).

At the moment, around 15 of the blogs in my RSS reader are having some contest or other and a few of these blogs are dedicated to contests alone! This does not mean that I have been participating in blog contests quite actively. In reality I have not participated in a single contest so far! However, I thought of writing about this topic today as the resources in my reader that I talked about may be of use to some of you! Click Here to Continue Reading
