Ten Unethical Blog Visitor Behaviors

Sometime back I had written a post about Unethical Blogging Practices and it dealt with bloggers’ unacceptable behaviors. Today’s topic is a little more controversial in nature and might sound negative as Unethical Blog Visitorwell but I request my honorable readers not to get offended because I am not talking about serious and genuine readers here!

The following are my list of blog visitor (or user) behaviors that I find really frustrating:

#1 Comment or Email Spamming

Nobody particularly likes spamming – whether it is email spamming or comment spaming. I am not talking about those spam comments that gets caught by Akismet but there are also more genuine readers who spams as well – Probably very short comments when delivered in batches of three or four fall into this category?

Do You Still Believe in Blog Ranks or Current Ranking Systems?

Do ranks really reflect what they should be?It is a fact that majority of the bloggers spent most of their valuable time on activities unrelated to publishing! Online publishing activities ideally should be restricted to content editing, proof reading, publishing, moderating and conversing with the readers. But the reality is that platform upgrades, ranks tracking, publicizing, commenting elsewhere etc consume a lot more time than the time utilized by actual writing and most bloggers go frenzy when stuff – like alexa, technorati, what have you – start getting on to their heads.

The topic for today is Blog Ranks and ranking systems! We have several of them around including the likes of Alexa, Technorati, Compete and various blog aggregator/directory ranking systems. But do they actually measure the merit of a blog based on quality of content or acceptance from its the readers? The answer is ‘NO’.

The Twitter experiment: I too have started chirping err tweeting

Follow me on twitterWhen it comes to the modern communication media and devices, usually I am the last one to adopt and/or adapt. For example, I don’t usually throw away my mobile phones until I have used it for at least three years! The case is much the same, when it comes to the usage of various social networking sites and tools as well.

However, after reading Shoemoney’s take on twitter recently, I thought of giving it a shot! Shoemoney claims that a huge amount of ‘fresh traffic’ to his blog is originating from Twitter. Moreover, he is successfully using it as a major affiliation channel as well! Well, I thought ‘better late than never’! Moreover, Kim, one of our friends here, endorsed Twitter, so I decided to take the plunge!!

ONE word blog description – follow up!

Earlier this week I had requested my blogger readers to come up with catchy single words that describe their blogs. I got some very good response to this little opinion post and some answers were really intriguing, some others were funky while majority of them were pretty straight forward single words that symbolized these individuals’ blog or their brand.

One word blog description - follow upThe word that I used to describe D$ was ‘monetize‘ which probably was the least interesting of all  – perhaps I should put more thoughts into it next time around! The following are some of the coolest single word responses that I got. As promised, I am giving link love to not just the top 10 but all of you who responded well. Moreover, picking the top ten all by myself is not an easy job.

Describe your blog in ONE word here!

Today I have been relatively free as I did not have too many comments to moderate or reply. The main reason for the lower number of comments has been the reduction in traffic for the past two days. I reckoned that the long festive weekend in India was causing the problem, as around 50% of my readers are from India (And the Google Analytics data proved my theory right!)

One word commentSince I was in no mood to write a new long post, I thought of putting up this little opinion post. There’s only one rule! You have to describe your blog in exactly one word and post that one word as a comment here. I plan to give link love or back links to top 10 interesting single word comments!
