You know what, I like more compete than alexa.

They rank site more accurate than alexa. They base on absolute UV per month :0 and they said that I got 3.7k absolute UV per month.

Mitch, you are right about the ranks… I didn’t quite understand as well and hence I didn’t mention the same here… I was though impressed with their analytics based on the raw data fed from ISPs etc

And your point (in your post) about toolbars is a valid one. Sometimes they tend to favor those who use these toolbars. In fact, many of them are privacy infringement modules and some may be even reported as virus by your internet security apps. You never know what information they are gathering and sending to the parent sites.

I actually wrote a piece on Compete a long time ago, but I took a different view than yours. I wasn't impressed at all, mainly because one never really knows what they're competing against. For instance, my IJS blog has a Compete rank, yet I'm not sure who I'm being compared to, but my business site, which has been around for 6 years now, has no rank whatsoever, yet isn't doing badly on Alexa or Google or my specific search terms, many of which I'm in the top 5 for. Today onwards I am also using sitemeter to side-by-side compare the merits and demerits of the same and GA.

@Melvin, yep I found it more reliable compared to some of the sites like traffic estimate where they only talk about monthly page views. In fact, I forgot to mention about the compete.com rank badge that people are proudly displaying these days… It’s getting better and better now.

@Bruno, thanks for the visit and comment. Yes, the beauty is that they deduce a lot of good analytical information out of the raw data that they receive from various sources…
