Totally agree. SE should see the “natural” link building progress for the project. So, in order to look more natural, you have to ensure:

- diversity of the linking websites
- diversity of the keywords used (thematic and not)
- diversity of the placement (footer, content, comments)
- and finally diversity of the landing pages.

The more “natural” you will look, the more impact the SEO will have on ur project.

I would think that it doesn’t make sense as mostly the category pages have noindex robots meta setting.

This is an awesome article. I still consider myself relatively new to the linking “game”. I was happy with linking to my homepage until I stalled out on the second page of Google. I have since started going “deeper” with my efforts and it is starting to pay off. @Richael, Angela’s link building pakage is pretty good and I have tried it for a couple of months. It’s amazing how she digs out such websites and profiles that allow dofollow.

You have a great tip for linking in terms of the about page I will keep that in mind.

@Sandeep, almost all these tips (except for the paid ones) are practical. If you are able to spend some money on link building, the other tips might work as well.

@Lax, nope. Not all of them are nofollow. And even when some are nofollow, it helps in terms of boosting visitors via Yahoo etc

@Kadir, definitely. Simple reciproc link exchanges are not very good. In worst case try three-way linking.

@Nihar, thanks buddy

@Kurt, Usage of keywords in internal linking is important as well. As for the dofollow, query…you may get a lot of comments but might end up leaking PR juice of individual commenters blogs there by reducing the search visits to that particular post. Also, you may get spammed big time.

@Greg, You should always try backlinks (deep) to the main contents of your site. Since you have a blog as a launch pad, you can also use it for referral visits, three way linking etc.

I want to ask you something about dofollow Ajith. I see many bloggers make their comment section dofollow. Does it badly affect the seo of the blog?

This is a very informative post for anyone who has till now been unsuccessful in their PR building or traffic improvement campaigns. In fact, the idea of deep linking was given to me by one of my good friends, Anglea V Edwards, who has a very good link building product she releases every month on the Warrior Forums.I have aggressively used tip number 4, "Use profile URLs and descriptions" for my blog, and this has lead to my blog getting and maintaining a decent PR 3 on the homepage as well as some of the internal pages.I have links coming from high profile sites, such as, NASA, Department of Defense blog, etc, to name a few...some of them even do-follow! No kidding! These sites usually hate commercial link-backs, but they are always willing to accept links that point to your "About Us" pages. So if in doubt, always link to your about page...this looks less spammy. Traffic and link juice to your about page is as good as the same traffic and link effect to your homepage.Richael Neet´s last blog post... Can .sex (or the new gTLDs) finally dethrone .com?
