Get Paid To Answer, Receive SMS, Post Rants…
Ajith | Jan 2009 | New Money Makers
Before you proceed, let me warn you that I am not going to talk about products that will fetch you major online income. However, these are legitimate and innovative ways of making (smalltime) money for doing things that anyhow you would do on a daily basis, even if you didn’t sign up with them.
PickJack – Get paid to answer multiple choice questions
PickJack is a new GPT (Get-Paid-To) site that pays you for answering and asking questions. The questions are in multiple choice formats and hence one needs to just click and submit them. PickJack pays you on a weekly basis via PayPal and minimum payout requirement is ony 5 cents.
Though the payments are relatively low you can earn a lot more by asking more questions than answering them. Moreover, there is a referral scheme that can be leveraged further to your advantage. This is a legitimate program and I got paid twice already though I don’t want to boast about the amount received ![]()
mGinger – Get paid to receive SMS on your mobile phones
mGinger is a new GPT product that is available only in India. mGinger pays you for receiving short text messages (SMS) – usually 5 to 10 weekly – on your mobile phone. They pay you 20 paise per SMS received. Though this is not a big amount there is a multi-level referral program which pays you 10 paise per SMS received by your referrals and 5 paise per SMS receieved by their referrals.
mGinger pays you via check once your earnings cross Rs.300/-. Other than the SMS deals received, there are many online coupons available at the mGinger site that you can use for your shopping in India.
myLot – Get paid to receive SMS on your mobile phones
myLot is a mini social network portal that pays its members for taking part in discussions and creating posts on areas of your interests. A couple of lines per post is good enough to get paid but the earnings are supposed to go up while posting more content or even while uploading pictures (Not verified this yet as I am not very active there)
myLot pays via PayPal once the earnings reach $10.
RantBlogger.com – A blog that pays for your rants
RantBlogger is a blog where people post their rants and get paid for the same. All that you need is to do is to submit your rants on your favorite topics and if your post is published there you will be paid 5 to 10 dollars per post via PayPal.
RantBlogger.com does not need any sign up and hence if your post is selected for publishing you will be contacted via mail to provide your PayPal address..
Post your rants @ RantBlogger.com now!
Happy Money Making!

Hmmm.. I used mGinger for quite a few days and fed up with that reaching the 300 mark is not very easy…. atleast fr me.. So how was ur exp with mGinger..
TechnoSamrat’s last blog post… Bypass Captcha on Megauplaod with Megaupload auto-fill captcha
Over the last 2 years or so, I have managed to rake in an amazing 11.5 rupees with mGinger
Raju’s last blog post… Shahrukh Khan is on Twitter! But Is it SRK really?
Mylot is a genuine service. Got paid once but then I stopped being really active there. Lack of time lol.
As for Pick Jack, am gonna have a look at this.
Kurt Avish’s last blog post… Dance of the Dragon at KFC Vacoas
Reaching the Rs.300 mark through mGinger is not an easy Task. It took more than 2 years for me to reach Rs. 92. Going with this, it will take other 4 years to reach Rs. 300!
Not sure if it’s worth.

Ajith,
Have you tried them yourself? It will be helpful if you can share your experience with us.
binaryday’s last blog post… Stop boring your feedburner subscribers with static email subject lines : Make feedburner subject line dynamic
Very good list, I too feel these are time consuming, and making money out of them requires lot of patience and also they aren’t easy as they proclaim in their websites. My advice would be that Try them, but don’t rely on them.
Wow! Thanks for the info! I should give this a try!
Hey, i recently joined Pickjack! And I’m loving it! So addicting..
@TechnoSamrat, any program like mGinger is only as good as you get a few people signed up under your referral and they in turn get second level referrals for you. That’s how multi-tier program works! As for mGinger, if you have say 15 people with you and those 15 people in turn have similar numbers, you easily get to your minimum target. Of course, if you try all by yourself, you get only peanuts
@Raju, see my answer above. Looks like you haven’t got anybody signed up with you
@Kurt, myLot works so will PickJack, as long as you don’t expect too much from it. But it’s a very interesting pastime
@Read2Know, Well, it’s not worth if you can’t get anybody signed up under you.
@BinaryDay, I have just started with it and trying to get the best out of it
Will definitely update you once I have more info – negative or positive.
@Nicholas, thanks for your comment. Definitely, these are not the programs that can get you a living…nor can one bank on them alone. Some of them will help you with a little bit of fun-filled online life.
@qarla, Yes qarla, it’s really addictive. Sometimes I ask six or seven questions in a row. But I have seen that when you don’t use it for a while the earnings somehow comes down.
Um… Ajith? Did you say that the minimum PayPal payout requirement for pickjack was 5 cents? I get charged 30 cents plus 2.9% on all paypal money… lol. (Although, I guess the basic paypal accounts might not charge on money sent from another account.)
The only service that I would use would probably be RantBlogger. I have a few rants that I’d like to share, which don’t quite seem appropriate to showcase on my own blog.
But anyway, if we’re talking about easy ways to make a little bit of money, why not check out Amazon’s Mechanical Turk program. It’s a great way to earn money by doing boring or monotonous tasks, or even asking/answering questions… https://www.mturk.com/mturk/welcome
Shirley’s last blog post… Is The Top Commentator Plugin Worth It?
Hey Ajith
Having tried Pickjack for almost a month now, I can’t say I’m really feeling them. I enjoyed creating & answering questions for a while, but found the way they operate quite offputting. I ain’t interested in the money as there isn’t much to be interested about. However, I feel their communication skills as well as the way they frequently change their payment dates at a whim without an explanation, their earnings update system and their payment processing is sorely under par.
Mylot’s good for getting traffic and finding topics to blog about.
Rantblogger probably gets tons of submissions everyday ‘cos what’s not to complain in the current climate.
take care…
2ThePoint’s last blog post… I haven’t been thrown out of my flat…….Yet.
Very cool little morsels, thanks buddy.
Dennis Edell’s last blog post… Top Commenter Contest – February – Is In Motion!
@Shirley, haha probably PickJack is not meant for people who have PayPal business accounts
And as I said, the idea here is not to expect too much. Basically, I get too many queries from people who don’t own a blog and want to make money online… So I dug out a few, experimented with them and posted.
However, what I figured is that any small program, if you go viral, can really return a lot. On your own you make peanuts!
Thanks for the mturk thingie
@2TP, you are right about PickJack’s earnings calculation problem. I found out that if you don’t answer anything for a few days the earnings somehow go down.
However, as qarla said, it’s fun to answer multiple choice questions except for a few dumb questions. Sometimes people will ask like Did Alexander Grahambel invent telephone? Yes/No
@Dennis, thanks man.
Hi Ajith – These are all new to me, but they don’t sound like anything I would have time to do. It would be interesting to see how successful others are who participate.
Barbara Swafford’s last blog post… SEO – Are We Getting It All Wrong
Hi everybody that is all need money and every money making site want registration fees someone want to work & they get money to give any work why we have to pay for getting work from anyone
My Rant sounds ok – especially if you already have one and feel like writing it. Maybe they will select it.
I think with many services like PickJack the money is mostly made through the referrals.
Shirley’s Mechanical Turk link looks interesting. And I’m with her on losing money with paypal
Kim Woodbridge’s last blog post… February Special: 15% off All Services (I Love My Clients)
haha, this reminds me of my bux.to days.
I tried rant blogger after I saw a review on them some Where but never got it accepted (I used to have a rant blog myself) so yeah. Thanks for the shares the first two are new to me
@Barbara, yep some of them are new services. And as you hinted it may not be the right thing for all
@Kim, I think PickJack is all about very smalltime money unless you get referrals. And definitely people with PayPal business account will suffer
@Ardit, I guess rant blogger is a way to keep the author’s blog updated and it’s a good business model for them. They get visibility and a lot of visitors (rant posters though most are not accepted) for spending five bucks every three or four days and probably he’ll make a lot more out of ads soon.
I think I’ll try out MyLot. I had no idea there were such initiatives. It looks like you can make money off anything these days.
Mginger is a scam as tested by me.
In 660 days of my membership (from May 2007 onwards) with Mginger, they must have sent me more that 200 messages (I selected 17 categories) on my mobile, but when I checked my account in the end of Jan., 2009, I found credit for 27 messages only amounting to Rs. 5.40.
I was never serious about promoting Mginger as they were paying only 20 paise per message and secondly I wasn’t sure whether they would pay or not. What I am feeling bad is the cheating done at their end by sending me marketing messages for Free!
Glad that I didn’t make fool of other people by promoting Mginger.
I also posted about Mginger cheating (credit of only 7.5% of messages – 27 out of 200) at their blog and as expected they quickly deleted it. They are only posting positive comments all over their blog from their own cheerleader/s making fool of more people.
How easy is it to make money by doing cheating online and when are the laws going to get stronger to take care of scammers like Mginger? They must have cheated lakhs of people and still continuing to do so.
There are similar cheating complaints about Mginger posted at several sites except theirs. I am sure that people will research and wouldn’t waste their time and energy in making money for Mginger!
I have now got my Mginger account deleted and thus stopped making money for them.
Take care!
Rajesh Mago’s last blog post… Tips To Understand The Difference Between Save And Save As Features
@Rajesh, thanks a lot for your detailed comment with statistics. I would definitely look into this and if after two or three months of experiments with the same if it turns out to be a scam, right here I will provide updates on the same and we will declare it scam
They can only delete allegations on their blog right?
Ajith: Thanks for posting my comment about Mginger cheating at your blog. I appreciate your decision of checking Mginger (get paid to receive SMS’es at mobile) yourself and then declaring it either a scam or an honest small money making program.
I was with myLot around 2 years back. Got paid and had the fun experience there. But I stopped because of a business that I got into that needed more of my time.
Nice collection. Btw, I am sending you a message after this. Please check it out.
As I was close to my 1st payout of rs 300 after 1 n half years .. they stoped sending me ads.. woh.. i think if any company pays for sending sms rather than recieving ad sms then users will have more control.. and i found smsgala ,whic pay for sending ads.. and within 2 weeks i am over 100..
Too many complaints about mGinger
The only problem I noticed so far is the fact that they don’t seem to count all SMSs received for the earnings calculation! However, I would take notice of what Sunil just said (and Rajesh earlier) and would write a follow up post if they are really scam people!
I myself have been on mylot since 6 months and i am satisfied with the service it provides paying for what you already do anyways nice article thanks for sharing
