@Kim, Yeah I saw that the blog you talked about is still maintaining 6 (and congrats for the technical consultancy provided… that blog rocks!) There was a talk this time that Google is changing the page ranking algorithm and hence a faster PR update (the last one was hardly two months back)

You are right Kim. 15% visitors from search is not very ideal. Mine is between 40% and 50% most of the weeks. As for the high bounce rate of search visitors, you need to bring it down to something like 40% (as against 60 or 70 which is the case initially). For that they need to see something more interesting than the search result page alone on the landing page. I am improving the good old landing sites plugin which is out of support right now. You could search any major search engine for something related to this blog (e.g. ‘bidvertiser secrets’) from major search engines (Google, Yahoo, MSN, Live, Ask, AOL, AllTheWeb, Altavista, Lycos etc) and if you click on the dollarshower test results, you will see some special message and links for the search visitor… This modification has helped me to reduce the bounce rate a bit… Once I add more customization to this plugin, I shall release it.

Referral visits are always good and more valuable than search visits. However, search visits will get more conversions (ad clicks, affiliation…)

I don’t know if mine should be higher or not. I’m happy with where it’s at right now. I didn’t think that the PR6 blog might have gone down. It’s still at 6 in a page rank search. It’s pretty established too so I would be surprised if it dropped.

It’s interesting that so few of Barbara’s visitors come from search – mine is 50% The downside of search visitors is that they are usually looking for something specific and don’t look beyond that one page. I am much more interested in traffic from referring sites – they tend to spend more time and investigate more than one page.

@Kim, that is strange… Perhaps the ranking is not yet over for the other blogs. May be the Pr^ blog that you talked about is a PR5 (or going to be once the update is over) now? Regardless…you deserve a better ranking

@Hussein, no need to worry buddy. I am sure you will be ranked better in the near future. And as you rightly said, sponsored reviews can kill the blog in terms of PR

@Ramesh, so you made it big in less than 4 months! Congratulations… Now keep building your links to preserve that rank

@Barbara, Google does PR updates three to four times a year. However, in the last year they did not do it for almost six monthos continuously. And your PR is definitely improving. 15% search traffic sounds a bit low. Have you tried All In One – SEO plugin aleady? Looks like it can be a good starting point fo seo optimize your blog posts.

Hey, thanks for the link love. Does Google change page rank quarterly, or do you know how that works. I was a 2 or 3 at the beginning of the year, so I’m happy with the 4. Although my page rank has been increasing, my search engine traffic is still low – around 15%. I guess that’s not bad as I don’t use a lot of SEO writing tactics.
