Face (Phase) 2 of blogging – Focus on Happiness and Connecting!

Ajith |  | 12 Comments

secret behinds happy bloggerTaking a blog to the next level involves a lot of hard work. In fact, when I started this blog earlier last year, I had underestimated the effort involved and started spending more and more time (quite unknowingly) to accelerate harder to reach some of those unrealistic goals.

In an attempt to become more practical, I recently came up with a plan and hence the revised version of my goals. The process of zooming out (by 10x) the monetary and other egoistic targets saved me time and I started enjoying other aspects of my blogging life without compromising my family time (the smile above). The reduced focus on money and material targets also gave me time to connect better with the readers. And I realized that connecting better results in certain reader behaviors that make every blogger happy.

Technorati Engage Beta – Blog Ad Network

Ajith |  | 19 Comments

Technorati Engage Blog Ad NetworkTechnorati launched their blog ad network in June last year and since then it has been sitting in beta stage. Dollar$hower was still very new at that time and my publisher application was rejected right away because only high traffic blogs were getting approved. At the moment, though, the Technorati Engage – that’s the new name for the Technorati Media Ad Network – is approving most blog publisher applications I thought of writing this little post about the new CPM (in fact they have a CPC option as well) ad network for blogs.

How does Technorati Engage work?

Technorati Engage is a flat rate ad network just like comparable programs such as the PerformancingAds blog ad network. Basically publisher blogs set weekly rates for their ad spaces that the advertisers can purchase on a weekly basis. However, unlike most blog ad networks, Technorati Media has a wide variety of ad formats supported and it operates at much higher volume.

Are We Writing HTML or Blog Content?

Ajith |  | 16 Comments

blog content as htmlWordPress may be a great blogging platform; and so may be the case with some other blogging environments as well. Unfortunately blogging still has not come down to the state where content writers can fluently write and publish formatted content. This is due to the fact that writing content or posts in the case of blogs refers to including some HTML (along with the text) tags as well that gets stored in the Content Management System (CMS) such as WordPress.

The basic formatting needs, inclusion of pictures or linking to other sites/documents etc are usually assisted by simple editors provided by the blogging platform. But sometimes, one needs to know a little more than that to produce posts that look great and are search-engine friendly as well. To make things worse, the formatted content may not be compliant across themes and platforms.
