Just so you know, Ajith, I did go back and turn the comments off on two articles. One was a survey article, and the survey is done so I don’t need comments on it anymore. The other I don’t quite remember what it was about, but I decided it didn’t need any comments either.

@Lucero Leah, yes… on controversial topics, taking off comments might help you to keep your blood pressure intact

@Liu, I did not know about this blog. Thanks for telling me about it. Even if you are the authority, you might still need comments – nobody is perfect. Otherwise, how do we need a blog, a few ‘pages’ under a domain name will do right?

@Gary, even I am yet to try turning comments off on older posts (or after a period). I will do it probably when there are too many comments to moderate. Current rate is okay for me

@Arafat, Picking and closing comments on those posts targeted (usually from a commenting software) by spammers is definitely a good idea.

Many dofollow blog also follow the path. They allow discussion for certain number of day and later they close it. It’s true sometime we really need to close comment. I often close comment on those topic which are targeted by spammer.

Great Post.

I’ve actually never thought of closing comments, but maybe in the future I will set a time of closing comments to posts that are older then 3 months.

I always like getting comments as I like to know the reactiona of my readers, as long as it’s not spam or anything silly.

Do you remember Kumiko Suzuki? She wrote that successfull make money online blog with comments of for a long time. She did it because she said, she was an authority. Funny gal.

Unfortunately the blog was sold to some clueless noob at some point.

if you turn off comment you well never know the reaction of your readers but on the other hand you can just take it off to prevent violent reactions from readers

Interesting post, Ajith. I’ve never given any real thought to closing any of my blog posts on any of my blogs, but after reading this I might have to think about it some, especially for those one and done sales posts.
